President Aliyev receives British MP
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday received member of
the British Parliament Nick de Bois, AzerTac state news agency
reported.
Nick de Bois conveyed greetings of British Prime Minister David
Cameron to the Head of State.
He also handed over the British PM`s letter to the Azerbaijani
president.
In his letter, David Cameron praised bilateral relations between
the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan.
The PM spoke about issues related to expansion of the bilateral
cooperation in the fields of non-oil, business and trade fields
even further.
Nick de Bois said Cameron considers Azerbaijan as an important
partner for the UK.
He recalled a meeting between the British PM and President Aliyev
during the London Olympic Games.
Nick de Bois stressed the importance of achievements of Azerbaijani
athletes in the Olympic Games.
Nick de Bois also conveyed David Cameron`s congratulations to
President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan`s winning the
right to hold first European Games in 2015.
The British MP expressed confidence that the first European Games
would be held successfully in Baku.
In turn the Head of State also recalled a meeting with David
Cameron during the London Olympic Games.
The president noted Azerbaijan and the UK enjoy long-term
historical relationship.
Aliyev said bilateral cooperation between the two countries was
developing successfully.
President Aliyev expressed confidence bilateral relations between
Azerbaijan and the UK would continue to strengthen in various
directions, including political, economic, energy and security
fields.
The Azerbaijani leader asked Nick de Bois to deliver his greetings
to the British PM.
