Moving pictures: artists’ films from the Film London Jarman Award

Honouring Derek Jarman, one of Britain’s most experimental and controversial artists of the late twentieth century, the Film London Jarman Award is an annual prize celebrating the spirit of imagination among UK artist film-makers. The award recognises work that resists conventional definition, encompassing innovation and excellence.

Now in its seventh year, the Film London Jarman Award has a back catalogue of works that represent the breadth of contemporary moving image practice in the UK. Film London and the British Council have collaborated to curate a screening programme that showcases films that have been shortlisted for the prize.

The purpose of the award is to invest in the career of an individual, enabling a period of experimentation without pressure. This touring programme includes key works by Ed Atkins, Andrew Kotting, Elizabeth Price, Laure Prouvost and John Akomfrah.
