Hamburg enjoys Azerbaijani cultural evening
By Nigar Orujova
An Evening of Azerbaijan will be held in Hamburg, one of the largest cities of Germany, on December 5.
Supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany, the event will be held in the historical city of Borsensaal in Hamburg.
The event will feature paintings and photo exhibitions, and also photo-projections of these works.
One of the stands will present paintings by young artists who have won the exhibition-contest called "Germany through an Artist's Eyes", traditionally held on the theme of Germany in Azerbaijan.
Such works drawn by young artists who have used their creative imagination and knowledge of Germany have never been exhibited in Germany before, although they have been put on display in Stuttgart and Cologne.
At the end of the event, another stand will showcase photos reflecting the life of Germans who have lived in Azerbaijan since the 19th century.
The pictures show the activity and lifestyle of the Siemens brothers who built the biggest state-of-the-art copper melting factory in Europe in the Gadabay region, as well as thousands of their fellow countrymen in Azerbaijan.
Isfar Sarabski, a virtuosic jazz performer, will also hold a concert in the evening.
The Foundation has recently held a number of events to promote Azerbaijani culture in Germany.
Earlier in November, an evening of Azerbaijan was organized in Stuttgart featuring Azerbaijani music and offering Azerbaijan's cuisine to the guests at the event.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation also started a new project in October to promote Azerbaijan's popularity in Italy.
The Foundation also held a number of other cultural events aimed at expanding Azerbaijan's culture in France.
