Azeri fund donates 40,000 euros to Strasbourg church
Azerbaijan`s Heydar Aliyev Foundation has made a
40,000 euro donation to the Strasbourg Cathedral Church for repair
purposes. A special ceremony was held in the French city on this
occasion on Monday.
Ganira Pashayeva, the Foundation`s spokeswoman and a member of the Azerbaijani delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, presented a cheque for the amount.
Strasbourg Mayor Roland Ries and other officials thanked Azerbaijan`s First Lady and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, for the donation. The speakers emphasized the contribution made by Azerbaijan to inter-cultural and inter-religious dialog.
The donated funds will be spent to repair two large windows at the church, which dates back to the 11th century.
The Azerbaijani foundation has also aided the renovation of two monuments at France`s Palace of Versailles.
