The number of incoming tourists from Russia to Azerbaijan
increased by 17 percent at the end of 2017, Head of the Federal
Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Oleg Safonov said.
Safonov made the remarks at the round table on "Development of
cooperation in the field of tourism", which is being held during
the 9th Russian-Azerbaijani interregional forum in Baku on Sept.
27.
"Russia and Azerbaijan have big prospects for expanding
cooperation in the tourism sector in the future. There is a great
potential for increasing the mutual tourist flow within
balneological tourism.”
“Tourism is an important factor in the development of the world
economy,” Safonov said. “According to the data for 2017, more than
1.9 billion trips were made in the world. The annual dynamics of
tourism growth reached about seven percent, which is much more than
the growth rate of the entire world economy.”
