Israir Airlines and Tourism, an Israeli airline based at Sde Dov Airport (SDV) in Tel Aviv, will carry out flights to Baku.

Company CEO Uri Sirkis announced about this at a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nazim Samadov.

The flights will be carried out from Tel Aviv to Baku starting from October 2, three times a week, as part of tourist packages, the Ministry reported on September 25

Sirkis and Samadov noted the importance of flights for mutual increase in tourism turnover. The parties also agreed on mutual activity in the field of marketing.

Azerbaijan is one of the few Muslim countries that have robust mutual relationship with Israel.

The Israel-Azerbaijan partnership is not only based on political, economic and energy cooperation, but also two nations share cultural ties, due to a fact that a large Jewish community lives in Azerbaijan. Today´s friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Israel are built on centuries of shared Jewish-Azerbaijani coexistence.

The strategic relationship between the two countries covers cooperation in trade and security matters, cultural and educational exchanges. The two also cooperate closely in the field of energy. Israel buys 40 percent of its oil from Azerbaijan.

A total of 1,513,000 overseas visitors visited Azerbaijan, also known as the Land of Fire, in the seven months of 2017. The figure shows a 24-percent rise compared to 2016.

For the past 10 years, the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan increased by five times. In 2016, the number of tourists visiting the Land of Fire amounted to 2,242 million people and this is 11.7 percent more than in 2015.

Azerbaijani people are well known for their hospitality while the country’s nature with its climate, beauty and uniqueness mesmerizes even the most claimant tourists.

The country with rich ancient history has thousands of places to visit, ranging from the capital to the unique villages lost in the clouds. Baku, where past and modernity, East and West have intertwined cannot leave indifferent any traveler. Warm Caspian Sea, sandy beaches and delicious Caucasian cuisine attract tourists to Azerbaijani resorts day by day.
