The 33rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships is being held in Izmir, Turkey from September 21 to 28.

Gymnasts from 60 countries, including Azerbaijan are taking part in one of the main sport events of the world.

In individual group, Azerbaijan is presented with World Cup multiple winner Marina Durunda, European Championship's silver and bronze medalist Gulsum Shafizada and Nilufer Niftaliyeva.

On the qualifying day of the championship, held on September 22, they performed with hoop, while on September 23, they will perform with ball. The final of these sections will be held on the same day.

The show with clubs by Sharifzada and Durunda will be held on September 24 and on the next day, they will perform with ribbons, where the award ceremony will also be held.

All-around final between two strongest groups is scheduled to be held on September 26.

Azerbaijan will perform on group exercise on September 27 composed of Sabina Abbasova, Siyana Vasilyeva, Aynur Mustafayeva, Aliya Pashayeva, Diana Doman and Alexandra Platonova.

The last day of the competition group teams will perform with 10 hoops in addition with three balls and two ribbons.

"Our team successfully performed at home European championship and now they are facing new challenge. Euro 2014 has showed that the team has big perspectives and the sportsmen need new motivations. The world championship is the best start where the gymnasts could show their abilities. The sportsmen know what they are required to do and they understand that after Euro 2014 they need to start with a clean slate," Head Coach of Azerbaijani team Mariana Vasilyeva noted.
