Azerbaijan ranks third in Vehbi Emre tournament
Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers have brought home a clutch of five medals, including gold from the Vehbi Emre tournament in Istanbul, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Gold medal came from Rasul Chunayev weighing in at 71kg.
Other wrestlers Shahriyar Mammadov weighing in at 85kg gained silver, while Rustam Aliyev, Saman Tahmasibi and Elvin Mursaliyev won bronze medals in the 71kg, 98kg and 75kg divisions respectively.
Along with Azerbaijan, the tournament brought together wrestlers from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Iran, Lebanon, Romania and Kyrgyzstan.
Azerbaijan ranked third with 39 points. Turkey topped the table, followed by Belarus.
