Azerbaijan off to good start at Chess Olympiad
The Azerbaijani men`s national chess team have beaten Luxembourg
4-0 in a first round of the World Chess Olympiad in Istanbul,
Turkey.
In this round, Teymur Rajabov secured a win over Michael
Wiedenkeller, Shahriyar Mammadyarov beat Claude Wagener, Rauf
Mammadov won a game with Christian Jeitz, and Eltaj Safarli beat
another Luxembourg chess player.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijanii female players beat Puerto Rico 4-0. In the first round, Zeynab Mammadyarova secured a win over Danitza Vazquez, Gulnar Mammadova beat Rinelly Comas, Turkan Mammadyarova beat Medina Pacheco, and Khayala Isgandarova won a game as well.
