A major sport project "Youth Cup. April victory" has been launched.
The project is co-organized by İreli Public Union and the Youth Foundation of Azerbaijan, Trend Life reported.
At first, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded. A minute of silence honored the memory of the martyrs of the Karabakh war.
The event was attended by public figures, veterans and members of the families of martyrs of the Karabakh war, athletes and military personnel, youth activists.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Intigam Babayev, Executive Director of the Youth Foundation Farid Jafarov, Deputy director of Trend Agency, political analyst Arzu Nagiyev, servicemen and reserve officers, veterans of the Karabakh war Muzaffar Bakhadurov, Logman Mammadov, Elmeddin Agayev, Jeyhun Alidzhanov, delivered speeches.
In their remarks, the speakers noted Azerbaijani army’s victory in April 2016 fights.
On the night of April 2, 2016 and during the day, all the frontier positions and settlements of Azerbaijan were subjected to heavy fire by the Armenian Armed Forces.
For the suppression of hostile actions, the leadership of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces made a decision on urgent response measures.
Azerbaijani forces broke through the first line of defence of the Armenian Armed Forces and established control over some strategic heights and populated areas. Due to the timely assessment of the situation, the Azerbaijani military was able to completely clear from the enemy the height around the village of Talysh, which could pose a threat to the Geranboy region and the city of Naftalan, as well as the Seysulan settlement.
Also, in order to ensure the security of Horadiz city, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces took control of the Leletepe Upland, located in the direction of the Fizuli region. This point allows to keep under control a vast territory.
Chairman of İreli Public Union Mirgasan Seyidov noted that the project is being implemented within the framework of the state program "Azerbaijani youth in 2017-2021".
The project is aimed at the patriotic education of young people, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and sports, the glorious history of the armed forces of Azerbaijan.
More than a thousand youth representatives will take part in competitions in football, volleyball, paintball, orienteering, cycling, shooting and athletics.
In conclusion, the draw was held as part of the event.
A the initiative of young people, groups have been formed that will pass stages from 1/8 /, 1/4, semi-finals and finals.
Some competitions will be broadcast online via Ireli Youth Radio (İradio.az).
