Azerbaijani gymnasts win bronze in Russia

Azerbaijani gymnasts have claimed a clutch of two bronze medals at the 24th Mikhail Voronin Cup in Moscow, Russia.

National athletes Marina Nekrasova and Yulia İnshina scored 95,950 points.

The first place was taken by Russian gymnasts Aleksandra Shekoldina and Angelina Melnikova (108.45 points). Silver medals went to Uzbek athletes Dildora Aripova and Anastasiya Miroshnichenko (100,425 points).

About 200 athletes competed in the tournament including winners and medallists of the Olympic Games, World and European championships.

The tournament is attended by participants from 26 countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Japan, Israel, the U.S., Germany, Switzerland and other countries.

Born in Voronezh, Russian Federation, Marina Nekrasova began competing for Azerbaijan in 2013. She represented the country at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the 2015 European Games.

Originally a competitor for Russia, Yulia Inshina began to represent Azerbaijan in November 2013.

Her first competitions representing Azerbaijan were the Cottbus and Ljubljana World Cups in 2014. She also competed at the International Bosphorus Tournament, winning silver on floor, and bronze in the all-around and on beam in the same year.

In 2017, Inshina started off the season at the Baku World Cup, where she placed sixth on the uneven bars.
