Azerbaijan to join AIBA World Boxing Championships

Azerbaijan's boxing team has learned its first opponents in the World Boxing Championship to be held in Hamburg, Germany.
The draw for the 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships was held on August 24. The competition will attract 280 boxers from across the globe to compete for the one of the most decorated boxing titles across nine days.
Azerbaijani boxers will compete in 1/16 and 1/8 finals, Milli.Az reported.
Mahammadrasul Majidov (+91 kg) will face Indian Kumar Satis in 1/16 finals on August 26.
On August 27, Lorenzo Sotomayor (64 kq) will compete against Egyptian Eslam Muhamed and Kyrgyz Nurlan Kobasev in 1/8 final.
At the same time, Kamran Shakhsuvarli (75 kq) will face with Maks Van der Pas from the Netherlands ad Lester Martines from Guatemala.
Parviz Bagirov (69 kg) will face Polish Damian Kivior and Mongolian Tuvshinbat Byamba on August 28.
The championship will be held at the Hamburg Sports Palace. The 1/4 final will take place on August 29.
