Azerbaijnai alpinist ascends highest peak in Europe

Azerbaijani alpinist Israfil Ashurly has conquered Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe.
Ashurly, the first Azerbaijani who climbed Mount Everest and Kangchenjunga, safely passed along the route to the Western top of the mountain (5,642 meters).
“Last year was the first in over 16 years, when I didn’t climb mountains. But, it will not happen again. I climbed one of the most popular peaks – Elbrus for the second time in two months,” Ashurly wrote on his page on the social network.
Israfil Ashurly is a mountaineer, explorer, general secretary of
Ice-Climbing Commission and Competition, owner of Insol Company and
president of Azerbaijan Mountaneering Federation.
He is also first Azerbaijani to receive Snow Leopard award and
Volcanic Seven Summits in 2009 and first undisputed Azerbaijani
explorer to walk on the North Pole in 2009.
