Fuel prices decrease in Georgia

Fuel prices have dropped by 5 tetri (2.2 cents) per liter in Georgia’s retail network in August, Sputnik Georgia reported citing the country’s Union of Petroleum Product Importers.
Currently, the average price in the networks of branded petrol stations is as follows: super gasoline – 2.12-2.15 lari per liter, premium – 2.04-2.10 lari per liter, regular – 1.84-2.04 lari, Euro diesel – 1.99-2.02 lari, diesel – 1.85-1.87 lari.
The current exchange rate is $1 – 2.3 lari.
This is while the fuel prices at unbranded petrol stations are by 10-15 tetri less per liter compared to the abovementioned stations, said the Union of Petroleum Product Importers.
“The retail price for fuel in Georgia depends on two factors – the international price for petroleum products in accordance with Platts and the exchange rate of lari to the dollar,” said the Union of Petroleum Product Importers.
The Union added that in recent period, the lari has sharply depreciated against the dollar, which directly affects the fuel prices.
