Georgians won’t need visa to Israel
By Nazrin Gadimova
Georgia's Interior Minister, future Prime Minister Irakli
Garibashvili and Israeli Deputy Interior Minister Faina
Kirschenbaum signed an agreement on a visa-free regime between the
two countries in Tbilisi on November 18, Georgia's Interior
Ministry reported.
According to the report, the agreement, which will come into force
after its ratification by the legislature of Georgia and Israel,
will allow the citizens of Georgia to visit Israel without a visa
for 90 days during a 6 month period.
"Today we signed a really historic agreement," Garibashvili said
after signing the agreement, adding that it will further deepen the
bilateral relations between Israel and Georgia.
Moreover, Garibashvili and Israeli Ambassador to Georgia Yuval
Fuchs signed an agreement on cooperation between Georgia's and
Israeli governments on the fight against crime and on issues of
public safety.
"The document defines the rules of cooperation between the sides in the fight against those serious crimes which are within the competence of the Georgian Interior Ministry and the Israeli Ministry of Public Security," the report says.
Georgian outgoing Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili put the issue of a visa-free regime for Georgian citizens on the agenda during his visit to Israel in June of this year.
