Saeed Jalili: Iran will not negotiate ownership of Persian Gulf islands
Iran has no intention of holding talks with any country over its
ownership of the three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, the
Greater and Lesser Tunbs, presidential candidate Saeed Jalili
said.
Making campaign trail stops in several towns and cities in Fars and
Hormozgan provinces, the priciplist candidate said that the
country's foes tried to discourage Iranians in the past four years
but the nation blocked their plots.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
The voters will select the successor of the current President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the
elections for the third term according to the country's
constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national
election.
