Georgian population down 0.3 percent
The Georgian population hit 4.483 million people as of January 1, 2013. This is 0.3 percent or 14,000 less than in the same period of 2012, the Georgian Statistics Committee said.
Some 52 percent of the population (over 2.3 million) falls to women, and 48 percent (over 2.1 million) to men.
Some 26.1 percent of the population lives in Tbilisi, 16 percent - in Imereti, 11 percent - in the Kvemo Kartli region, 11 percent - in Samegrelo - Zemo Svaneti, 9 percent - in Kakheti, 9 percent - in Adjara, 7 percent - in Shida Kartli region, etc.
The population growth by 0.1 percent was fixed in Adjara over the last year.
