Kazakhstan maps out tourism development prospects

Kazakhstan is developing a concept of the development of the tourism sector until 2020 and a state program for the development of infrastructure.
The Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies reported that both documents will be discussed at a meeting of the Kazakh Tourism Council on Monday.
The meeting agenda stipulates consideration of projects related to the concept of the development of the tourism sector till 2020, as well as the state program for the development of the infrastructure, the ministry reported.
Also, issues of the simplification of the visa regime and registration procedures, factors constraining the development of tourism and improvement of tourism education in the country will also be discussed at the meeting of the Tourism Council.
The meeting will be attended by the representatives of the state and local governmental bodies, non-governmental unions, domestic scientists and experts in the field of tourism.
Earlier at the presentation of the draft concept, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev said the key role of the state in the tourism field will ensure successful implementation of the concept and rapid development of tourism. This was proved by the experience of Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Mexico, Morocco and other countries, he said.
Issekeshev said the number of people employed in tourism and tourism related sectors will increase by several times following the concept implementation.
Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov said that Kazakhstan has a vast territory with potentially attractive tourist areas. Implementation of this concept will allow creating new jobs and a profitable business sphere in the country.
France to support mountain skiing tourism in Kazakhstan
Several leading companies of the Rhone-Alps region of France plan to share their experience and knowledge with Kazakhstan for successful development of the mountain skiing tourism, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.
"The issues related to the expansion of cooperation between Kazakhstan and France was discussed during a roundtable in Lotharingia, where Kazakh ambassador to France Nurlan Danenov was on a visit," the ministry said.
The meeting also mulled the cooperation between the two countries in the ICT field. The major European technopolis in the South of France voiced readiness to take the patronage over one of the Kazakh technoparks.
The roundtable was attended by the managers of economic structures, technoparks, scientific-research centers and major industrial companies of the Lotharingia region, which is one of the leading regions in the field of advanced industrial technologies, materials and "green economy".
