Construction work at Paravani HPP station monitored

Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze inspected on Wednesday the Paravani HPP station being constructed by the Turkish firm Georgian Urban Energy Ltd in Samtskhe-Javakheti region, South Georgia.
The construction of Paravani HPP began in 2009 and is expected to be completed in 2015. The installed capacity of the plant is 85 MW and the annual electricity output is 420 million kWh.
The investment cost of the project is $125 million and 630 people are involved in its construction. According to the project, the investing company will direct the energy generated in winter to meet domestic needs, while energy generated at other periods will be exported.
