2 Russian neo-Nazi leaders get life in jail
MOSCOW – A Russian court has sentenced two leaders of a neo-Nazi gang to a life in jail for a number of brutal killings, AP reported.
The St. Petersburg City Court on Tuesday also sentenced another 11 members of the gang with up to 18 years in jail for their roles in the attacks.
The gang consisted of men aged 16 to 22 who mostly beat and stabbed their victims to death.
Their victims included a nine-year old girl from ex-Sovier republic of Tajikistan, natives of North Korea and China and two former gang members suspected of cooperating with police.
In 2004, they also gunned down Nikolai Girenko, one of Russia's top experts on neo-Nazi and ultranationalist groups that mushroomed in Russia after the 1991 Soviet collapse.
The Moscow Bureau for Human Rights says there are about 70,000 neo-Nazis active in Russia.
