US govt to scrutinize Armenia-Iran deals
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The US government will scrutinize the text of the agreements signed by Armenia and Iran last week, Acting Deputy State Department spokesman Mark Toner has said.
The two countries signed several documents, including an agreement on energy cooperation, during Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Iran.
Toner told a briefing in Washington that it is necessary to study those agreements and learn what issues they cover.
"I don’t have comprehensive information to that end," he said. "We have repeatedly stated our stance on [any country’s] doing business with Iran. I will try to study this issue and then answer this question."
