Turmoil in Armenia: More dismissals may be in store
YEREVAN – Armenian ministers representing the Prosperous Armenia party are expected to resign in the coming days and the party will secede from the ruling coalition, local opposition newspaper Haykakan Zhamanak said.
Prosperous Armenia chairman, tycoon Gagik Sarukyan, has reportedly called upon the ministers to wrap up their work by the end of the year and be ready to step down any time.
Aykakan Jamanak could not reach the party for comment.
The paper also said the Armenian parliament could be disbanded soon.
"In the backdrop of the recent developments in the country, a very interesting fact has been reported. Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan has in the past days replaced the ruling Republican Party of Armenia’s badge by another one with an Armenian flag. He was last seen wearing the party’s badge on November 22," Aykakan Jamanak said.
Earlier, the Armenian minister of justice, the mayor of Yerevan and the president’s chief accountant were dismissed.
