The Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan is now headed by Askar Mamin, who has previously been appointed Acting Prime Minister of the country, Trend reports via RIA Novosti.

The relevant decree was signed by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Monday.

"The head of state signed a decree on the appointment of Askar Mamin as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan," the presidential press service informed.

Mamin, 53, has earlier served as the Minister of Transport and Communications, mayor of Astana, and head of the Kazakhstan Railways national company. Since September 2016, Mamin was the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

After the government’s resignation on February 21, 2019, he replaced the former Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev and was appointed the Acting Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
