Uzbekistan shows off goods at Int'l Green week 2019 in Berlin

Berlin is hosting the largest event in the field of agro-industry - International Green week 2019 in Berlin, from January 17 to 27, Trend reports via UzDaily.

An official opening of the Uzbek stand took place as part of the international exhibition on January 18. Presentation of agricultural, fruit and vegetable and alcoholic products of Uzbekistan as well as the national cuisine and tourism potential of the country were organized there.

Representatives of Uzbek business circles who arrived in Berlin, are negotiating on the formation of a trade package and economic contracts, as well as the conclusion of agreements on the establishment and expansion of mutually beneficial economic cooperation with German entrepreneurs.

The Global Nutrition and Agriculture Forum (GFFA) that was held as part of the Green Week was another main occasion. Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel noted the importance of this event while speaking at the opening ceremony.

In his report, Uzbek Minister of Foreign Trade Jamshid Khojaev acquainted the forum participants on the comprehensive reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan for the development of trade and economic sphere and potential of the country's agricultural sector.

In particular, from 2000 to the present day Uzbekistan's agriculture has been growing steadily at a rate of 6.6 percent annually which is more than the world average of 2.8 percent. Finally, the minister stressed that it is planned to increase exports of agricultural products to $5 billion by 2021.

Negotiations were held with German Agriculture Minister Yulia Klöckner, during which the parties discussed the possibilities of expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of agro-industry.

This year the Green Week exhibition is expected to be attended by more than 400,000 visitors as well as a number of conferences and presentations.
