S.Korean SMC Co. may create automobile cluster in Uzbekistan

South Korea’s SMC Co., Ltd can organize an effective system of control over the gas equipment installed in cars in Uzbekistan, Trend reports on Dec. 15 referring to Uzbek media.

The relevant proposal was made by the Korean company during negotiations in the Transport Infrastructure Development Department of the Ministry of Innovation Development.

During the meeting, the project of creating an automobile cluster in Uzbekistan, including gas equipment testing and vehicle inspection centers, was discussed.

"SMC Co., Ltd made a proposal to establish a testing center in Uzbekistan, which will be engaged in the inspection of gas equipment (300 laboratories) and technical inspection of vehicles (150 laboratories) in all regions of the country, as well as non-destructive testing center in one of the educational institutions where modern IT technologies will be provided," the ministry noted.

The Korean company is ready to invest $50 million in the project and cooperate in the form of a public-private partnership with direct financing from Korean financial institutions on mutually beneficial terms.
