Iran's decision to remain in nuclear deal hinges on EU guarantees

Iran's decision on remaining in the nuclear deal depends on EU guarantees, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi told reporters in Tehran.

The United States insisted and devoted much effort, and today it continues these efforts to reduce Iranian oil exports to zero, which is definitely not realizing its dream, he said.

“The mechanisms have been designed and are still in place. We are moving in this direction and Iran's exports can be continued at the optimum level.”

"Trump cannot approach and reach the point he was targeting, but the amount, methods and destinations of the Iran oil exports should not be spoken about, because it is being misused by Iran's enemies, especially the United States,” he said.

Referring to the US withdrawal from a 63-year-old friendship treaty with Iran after decisions made by the International Court of Justice, he said Iran already has received a written letter of the US withdrawal from the treaty.

The United States withdrew from two international accords on October 3, after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the country's government to ease sanctions on Iran.

Answering the question on Tehran's decision on remaining in the Iran deal, Qassemi says with the withdrawal of the United States, Iran's consultations with other sides have begun, and today there is a positive outlook for continued cooperation.

“Our next decisions will be based on the latest final proposals of the European Union that will provide Iran with the necessary guarantees,” he said.
