Heads of Iran, Russia’s central banks meet in Moscow

Iranian Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati and his Russian
counterpart Elvira Nabiullina held a meeting in Moscow to forge
closer banking ties on Thursday evening.
Hemmati and Nabiullina discussed ways to enhance banking and
financial ties between the two countries, according to the official
website of Iran’s central bank on October 4.
The meeting came after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his
Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin met recently and discussed the
expansion of ties in the era of US sanctions against Tehran, the
report added.
Hemmati has traveled to the Russian capital at the head of a
high-ranking delegation.
Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei was also present in the
Thursday meeting.
Increasing the level of brokerage relationships, financing civil
projects, and boosting trade ties were also explored at the
meeting.
