As part of the 46th Session of the UN Committee on Economic,
Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR), Geneva hosted discussions of
Turkmenistan’s report on implementation of the International
Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), the
Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message.
The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister
Vepa Khajiyev.
As part of the dialogue, the participants touched upon issues of
equal rights for men and women, protection of the family and
children, including ensuring the rights to work, fair and favorable
working conditions, to social security, physical and mental health,
education, as well as cultural rights.
The committee gave positive assessment of the quality of the
main and additional materials prepared by the Turkmen side and
readiness to discuss the diverse issues raised by the international
covenant.
The committee will prepare its concluding remarks with
recommendations, which will be sent to the Turkmen side.
