The EBRD supports Turkmenistan in promoting foreign trade activities and raising awareness of export opportunities and tasks.

In this regard, the EBRD seminar was held with donor support from the EU and in partnership with the EU project “Promoting further sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas in Turkmenistan - phase III”, the EBRD representative office in Turkmenistan reported.

The three-day event “Export Promotion for SMEs - Readiness for Export” was attended by local private small enterprises, as well as representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Foreign trade is one of the key factors contributing to the economic growth of the country. In recent years, the government of Turkmenistan has adopted a number of programs to promote exports and import substitution within the framework of major structural reforms. In order to support the existing export promotion programs in the country, the EBRD organized a training course adapted for small and medium-sized enterprises in Turkmenistan.

During the workshop, numerous working groups provided a platform for discussing suitable export strategies for SMEs and ways to access external markets. Later this year, the most successful companies will be able to benefit from coaching sessions financed by the EBRD and the European Union.

The European Union supports the promotion of exports in Turkmenistan through the EBRD program “Small Business Consultations” and the EU project “Promoting further sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas in Turkmenistan - Phase III”. This project supports the production of agricultural products and food products, and offers marketing support for the promotion of Turkmen products in international markets.
