By Trend
Gas leak in one of Iranian oilfields claimed lives of three people, Mehr news agency reported.
The incident occurred on Jan. 18 morning as a massive leak of toxic hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas from a crude oil storage tank in the Nargesi oil field killed at least three workers.
According to the report, the facility’s contractor opened the crude oil storage tank for descaling operations without coordination with Health & Safety and Environmental Protection Unit (HSE) which led to widespread leak of the H2S gas.
Two more people were hospitalized due to poisoning.
A working group has been formed to investigate the details and reasons of the incident.
Discovered in 1974, the Nargesi field is located 30 kilometers north of the city of Borazjan in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr.
