Kazakhstan sharply cuts export of goods

Kazakhstan has reduced export of goods by 30.5 percent and to $8.4 billion in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, the country’s National Bank reported on July 27.

Decrease in export volumes mainly resulted from continuing fall in oil prices, according to the bank.

Meanwhile, the export of oil and gas condensate from Kazakhstan decreased by 41.1 percent to 4.5 billion in the first three months of 2016, compared to the same period of 2015.

Export of other goods fell by 13.4 percent.

Kazakhstan also reduced import of goods from abroad in the first quarter of 2016 – by 27.1 percent to $5.8 billion.

The country decreased import of all kinds of goods, with the greatest decline in non-food consumer goods (by 36.5 percent).

The bank also noted that, that the world prices for Brent oil fell by 36.3 percent in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015 to $34.4.
