TANAP partners to define contractor
The partners of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline project (TANAP) will select a contractor for the gas pipeline's construction after September 2013, Head of SOCAR Turkey Enerji, a member of board of Petkim petrochemical holding, Kenan Yavuz said.
Yavuz said the selection of the gas pipeline's final route is almost complete, Hurriyet newspaper reported.
Regarding the company that will supply pipes for the project, Yavuz said that currently some 28 proposals have been received from various companies, nine out of which are Turkish companies,
"Some two million pipes will be used in the construction of TANAP project. We intend to order pipes in the second half of 2014," he said.
The TANAP project envisages transporting gas from Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field to Europe through Turkey. The initial capacity of the pipeline is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters per year. About six billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied to Turkey, and the rest to Europe.
