Satellite to be launched into space late 2010
An Azerbaijani satellite will be launched into orbit in late 2010
or early 2011, the Deputy Minister of Communications and
Information Technologies, Iltimas Mammadov, has said.
Mammadov added, further, that the ministry was currently in talks with different companies to obtain an orbital slot. One of the directions of these negotiations is the possible lease of an already existing slot from one of the countries. The deputy minister said the talks were expected to yield results shortly.
According to Mammadov, it usually takes four to five years to put a satellite in orbit. "There are countries working on this project for ten years, while Azerbaijan intends to succeed in it sooner."
