16 October 2008 21:09 (UTC+04:00)
Five Azerbaijanis were brutally murdered on Sunday in their home in the Russian republic of Khakasiya.
The victims include a husband and wife, their 12-year-old daughter, the man`s brother and his 10-year-old son, the local media reported.
The family, who are long-time residents of the Khakasiya`s Shirin district, had been engaged in selling meat.
The bodies of the victims were discovered in their home after a group of law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.
Also, two girls who had been poisoned with carbon monoxide - a four-year-old and a one-month old baby - were rushed to a hospital.
Investigators established that the murderer had attempted to set the home on fire to wipe out traces of the crime.
On the same day, a 22-year-old driller, who is a local resident, was detained as a suspect. He had been prosecuted in the past after being repeatedly arrested for stealing.
The motive for the crime has yet to be established. Khakasiya`s Prosecutor`s Office is investigating the crime.
