Three Egyptian delegations due on visit
A large group from Egypt consisting of three delegations will visit Baku from December 25-30, Ambassador Youssef Ahmed El Sharkawy said.
The visit, which comes after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's fruitful meetings with his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Hosny Mubarak in Cairo this May, aims to boost relations between the two countries.
The first official delegation headed by Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation and co-chair of the joint committee, Mrs. Faiza Aboul Naga will participate at the third session of the inter-governmental committee on economic, technical and scientific cooperation to be held in the Azerbaijani capital December 27-30, El Sharkawy said.
The co-chairman from the Azerbaijani side is Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev.
The Egyptian delegation includes senior officials representing ministries dealing with various fields, such as information technologies, healthcare, the economy and investment. It is scheduled to hold meetings with the Azerbaijani prime minister and parliament speaker, as well as those at a number of ministries.
According to the ambassador, the second delegation led by Chancellor Adly Hussein, the Governor of Egypt's Kalyoubeya Governorate, will include businessmen along with government dignitaries. It is expected to meet with the mayor of the Absheron district. The sides will open new education, economic and social projects.
The third delegation is a group of entrepreneurs working in different fields, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, construction, furniture industry, and telecommunications. It will attend a business forum to be organized by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).
During the visit, Minister Faiza Aboul Naga and Chancellor Adly Hussein will inaugurate the Azerbaijani-Egyptian friendship park and attend the ceremony of unveiling the statues of President Hosny Mubarak and the ancient Egyptian writer al-Katib al-Masri al-Kadim. They will also participate at the groundbreaking ceremonies of an Egyptian hospital and a commerce center called the Egyptian House.
