Armenian armed forces continue to keep tension on the frontline constantly firing the posts of Azerbaijani armed forces on the contact line of troops of the two countries.

Violating the ceasefire regime on June 2, the Armenian armed forces shot dead the soldier of the Azerbaijani Army.

19-year-old Zaur Hasanli was killed as a result of the shelling, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on June 3.

The Defense Ministry leadership expressed its deepest condolences to the parents and relatives of the killed soldier.

The ceasefire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line was broken 52 times last night, the ministry further reported.

The armed forces of Armenia, located in the villages of Berkaber of the Ijevan region, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, located in the village of Qizilhajili of the Qazakh region, the report said.

Also, the Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located in the nameless heights and near the villages of Gorgan, Goradiz, Ashagi Seyidahmadli and Ashagi Abdulrahmanli of the Fizuli region, Javakhirli, Merzili of the Aghdam region, Kuropatkino of the Khojavend region, Mehdili of the Jabrail region and the nameless heights.

The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

This is the third loss of the Azerbaijani Army over the past ten days, as Armenian armed forces constantly keep tension on frontline.

The situation on the frontline has escalated in recent days, as Armenian sabotage and intelligence groups have attempted several times to attack the posts of the Azerbaijani Army units.

As a result of ceasefire breaches, two servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army were killed and one soldier was wounded in late May.

The Armenian armed forces have intensified ceasefire violations on the contact line between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops since the beginning of 2014. As a result of ceasefire breaches, several Azerbaijani soldiers were shot dead.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994, but Armenia has continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for their immediate and unconditional withdrawal.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France, and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
