Argentina, Azerbaijan may launch direct flights

Direct flights may be launched between Argentina and Azerbaijan.

The news was announced by Argentine Ambassador to Azerbaijan Carlos Dante Riva at a seminar on tourism and culture in Argentina held on April 2.

The ambassador said Argentina and Azerbaijan are using the airlines of Turkey, Qatar, and European countries to conduct their flights.

Azerbaijan and Argentina have no agreement on opening direct flights at the moment, he said.

"However, launching direct flights between the two countries is planned along with the development of tourism and other relations in the future," he added.

Carlos Dante Riva noted that Argentina and Azerbaijan have strong political ties, and work on the development of relations in the cultural, economic, and other spheres is underway.

The relations between Azerbaijan and Argentina existed before the embassies opened, the diplomat said. However, relationships began to develop even more afterwards.

The two sides also discussed the tourist destinations, national culture, cuisine, and nature of Argentina.

The two countries are successfully cooperating in fields such as ICT and agriculture. Thus, Argentina's high-technology company INVAP, engaged in the construction and delivery of complex equipment, earlier expressed its readiness to contribute to the development of the space industry in Azerbaijan.

The company supplies equipment to more than 30 countries and has offices in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, and the United States.

The Argentinean companies will be able to take advantage of the State Fund for Development of Information Communication Technologies, Hi-Tech Park, and the ICT University in the future.

Argentina and Azerbaijan are also interested in the joint development of agriculture in both countries.

Argentina recently achieved good results in the development of agriculture with the aid of modern technologies, and intends to share this experience with Azerbaijan.
