Two Radio Liberty reporters attacked in Nakhchivan
Radio Liberty`s reporters in Azerbaijan`s Nakhchivan Autonomous
Republic have faced an attack.
Malahat Nasibova and her husband, Ilgar Nasibov, were beaten while covering stand-off between residents of the Nehram village and the police.
Nasibova said they were called to the area by the village`s elders. The journalists met with the local population, took photos and recorded their accounts. Then, they were attacked by persons dressed as civilians and holding their press IDs, who took away and broke their microphones. The police did not interfere, the reporters said.
Ilgar Nasibov was hurt in the face during the incident.
"They insulted us and told us not to cover problems facing the village," he said. "The situation is very serious, we don`t know what will happen tomorrow."*
