Azerbaijani athletes prepare to join competition in Sochi

Azerbaijani athletes participating in the 22nd Olympic Winter Games in Sochi are in normal condition and there are no problems, head of the Azerbaijani delegation at the Olympic Games Konul Nurullayeva said.
No injuries have been recorded so far, she added.
Skaters Alexei Sitnikov and Julia Zlobina as well as alpine skiers Patrick Brahner and Gaia Bassani Antivari will struggle in this Olympic Games for Azerbaijan.
Athletes of the national team will participate at the figure skating competition on February 16-17, and alpine skiing on February 19-21, she said.
Earlier, Vice-President of Azerbaijani National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade said Azerbaijan expects the best results from figure skating at the Olympic Games.
The Olympics are expected to positively affect the development of winter sports in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan had been participating in the Winter Olympic Games since 1998 in skiing and figure skating sports.
The Winter Olympic Games 2014 will last until February 23 in Sochi in Krasnodar, the third largest region in Russia.
