By Nazrin Gadimova
French President Francois Hollande will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan this year.
Hollande confirmed his intention to visit Azerbaijan upon the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with Azerbaijani ambassador to France Elchin Amirbekov.
A brief conversation between Hollande and Amirbekov took place during the annual meeting with the diplomatic corps accredited in France in the Elysee Palace on the occasion of the New Year.
Amirbekov conveyed President Aliyev's greetings to the French president.
Expressing his gratitude, President Hollande asked to convey his congratulations and best wishes to his Azerbaijani counterpart and expressed satisfaction with the recently observed dynamics in the development of bilateral French-Azerbaijani relations.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and France were
established in 1992. The trade turnover between the two countries
reached about $2 two billion in 2012.
The legal framework for bilateral cooperation includes 42
documents, and about 40 French companies operate in Azerbaijan.
