Turkish automotive company TOFAŞ is considering the export of new car models to Azerbaijan's markets, the company told Baku-based Trend news agency this week.

Besides Azerbaijan, the company intends to export new car models to the markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The starting date for the delivery of new car models to the other markets is still unknown, as they will be produced in 2015, the company said.

The total number of produced cars will amount to 580,000 and they will be assembled on a new platform.

TOFAŞ Company, which was founded in 1968, is one of the three world-wide strategic manufacturing centers. According to the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUİK), the number of vehicles operating in the country reaches 17,653,281.

According to the report, some 51.4 percent of vehicles are cars, 16.4 percent are trucks, 15.3 percent are motorcycles, 8.7 percent are tractors, 1.4 percent are buses, and 6.8 percent are other vehicles.

The report also said that some 41.5 percent of cars use liquefied gas as fuel, 31.9 percent use petrol, and 26.1 percent use diesel fuel.
