President Aliyev opens facilities in Sumgayit

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the country's industrial city of Sumgayit on October 3.

The President started his visit by laying flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city center.

Head of the city's Executive Authority Eldar Azizov informed the President about the efforts made to boost the socio-economic development of Sumgayit, one of the biggest industrial centers of the country.

President Aliyev then attended the opening of the newly overhauled Sumgayit City Hospital No.1.

The President met local residents and the hospital staff and toured the hospital.

Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev said that the 225-bed hospital was provided with modern medical equipment.

The head of state then reviewed redevelopment work in the square in front of the Sumgayit City Cultural Center.

President of the state oil company SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev, briefed the Azerbaijani leader on the redevelopment work in the square.

President Aliyev also reviewed reconstruction work at the Cultural Center.

As part of his visit to Sumgayit, the President attended the opening of the "Saglam qida" ("Healthy food") agro-industrial complex.

Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev informed President Aliyev about the complex.

The President then inaugurated a mill complex and a grain storehouse.

President Aliyev also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev briefed the President about the park, which covers social and industrial zones. The President met builders and wished them success.

President Aliyev then attended the opening of a metal pipe plant in Sumgayit and viewed the production process there.
