Most of Azerbaijani youth backs Azerbaijani president’s policy - ruling party official
The vast majority of Azerbaijani youth supports the policy pursued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, chairman of the Youth Association of the ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan party Seymur Orujov told Trend news agency on Tuesday.
He said that one of the main directions of the president's policy is to strengthen state support for young people.
The youth policy has turned into an important component of state policy in Azerbaijan, he added.
He stressed that Azerbaijani youth is active in all spheres of public life.
"The youth policy pursued by President Aliyev ensures a comprehensive youth development and its direct participation in the political life of the country," he said. "A new stage of the policy conducted by the president covers various spheres."
He added that Azerbaijani youth is firmly united around the president. There is only a small group representing the opposition camp.
"I hope these young people will sooner or later realise that they are on the wrong direction," he said. "The opposition youth has repeatedly tried to conduct protest actions, but failed every time. Their latest attempt on March 10 is another proof. We urge these young people to leave their wrong route."
