Azerbaijani diplomat gives lecture at Santa Fe Council on International Relations

Azerbaijan`s Consul General in Los Angeles Nasimi Agayev has delivered a lecture at the Santa Fe Council on International Relations of the New Mexico State.

Agayev briefed the participants on Azerbaijan`s history, as well as its successful development, oil and gas strategy and relations with the regional states, in the lecture entitled "The current situation in Azerbaijan and Caspian Region".

He also noted Azerbaijan faced big challenges during early years of independence, including the occupation of its territories by Armenia, economic recession and big domestic and foreign threats. The consul general said new period of development begun in the country after coming to power national leader Heydar Aliyev.

On oil and gas strategy, the diplomat noted this strategy was based on far-sighted use of rich energy resources, overall development of the country.

On aggression and ethnic cleansing of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Agayev noted the current status quo was unacceptable and was a serious threat to security and stability in the region.
