Azeri election body says Georgia vote transparent

Parliamentary elections held in Georgia on Monday were well-organized and transparent, Azerbaijani Central Election Commission Chairman Mazahir Panahov told journalists on Wednesday.

Voters were active in the elections, Panahov said.

He said the Georgian Dream opposition coalition gained a certain advantage in the end.

"During the elections, we did not see the facts causing any concern," Panahov added.

The Georgian election body has counted data from 3,590 (97.03 percent) out of 3,766 polling stations so far.

According to initial data, Georgian Dream continues to lead with 54.8 percent (1,154,533 votes).

The ruling party United National Movement ranks second with 40.4 percent (845,169 votes).
