Iranian official says boosting ties with Azerbaijan ‘strategic policy’
Development of relations with Azerbaijan is one of Iran's strategic policies, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and former ambassador in Baku Alireza Bigdeli was quoted by IRNA news agency as saying.
Bigdeli told a conference in Ardabil on Friday that the development of relations with neighboring countries, especially Azerbaijan, lies at the core of the Islamic Republic’s Constitution.
"Improving relations with neighboring states ensures the interests of both sides. No factor can damage the friendly relations between the two countries," Bigdeli said.
He noted that Azerbaijani and Iranian officials are interested in developing bilateral relations, and minor events that occur outside the two countries cannot affect their aspiration to boost ties.
