OSCE mediators to join monitoring of Azeri, Armenian troops’ contact line

OSCE mediators will take part in a monitoring on the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian armed forces on Saturday, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said.

The monitoring will be held on the Terter-Agdara highway in Azerbaijan.

During the monitoring, OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs - Bernard Fassier of France, Robert Bradtke of the United States and Igor Popov of Russia - and OSCE chairperson’s personal representative Andrzej Kasprzyk are expected to cross from the Armenia-occupied territories of Azerbaijan to the parts of the frontline controlled by Azerbaijani armed forces.

The co-chairs are currently holding talks with Armenian leaders in Yerevan.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory has been under Armenian occupation since a precarious cease-fire was signed in 1994 following a lengthy war. Sporadic clashes on the frontline continue.
