BAKU – A delegation led by the speaker of the Lithuanian Seim (Parliament) Irena Degutienes is due to arrive in Azerbaijan next Tuesday to discuss ways of expanding relations and business ties.

Degutienes is due to meet with President Ilham Aliyev on the same day, the Lithuanian parliament said.

During the four-day visit, she will also hold talks with the Azerbaijani parliament speaker, prime minister, ministers of foreign affairs, economic development, energy and taxes. Degutienes will attend an Azerbaijani-Lithuanian business forum on Wednesday.

Degutienes will be accompanied by Lithuanian businessmen, who will explore avenues for investing in the fast-growing South Caucasus republic.

According to the Lithuanian parliament’s public relations office, Degutienes is confident that her visit will facilitate the development of Lithuanian business.

"The top-level meetings between Lithuanian and Azerbaijani policymakers are a good opportunity not only to boost bilateral political relations, but also to open wider the doors for Lithuanian business. We also hope that Azerbaijani leaders and businessmen will take interest in the projects being implemented in Lithuania in a variety of fields, including those in the energy sector.
