Azerbaijan, Kuwait waive visas for diplomats
BAKU – The governments of Azerbaijan and Kuwait have signed an agreement to cancel visas for diplomats.
During the first meeting of the inter-governmental commission on Monday, the two countries also inked an agreement on economic and technical cooperation, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told AssA-Irada.
The signing took place as part of the working visit to Kuwait by an Azerbaijani delegation led by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
The Azerbaijani-Kuwaiti commission discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between the two countries in all areas. The parties stressed the importance of further strengthening the existing friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait.
During the talks, Kuwait stated that it recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which faces a long-standing conflict with Armenia and occupation of 20 percent of its internationally recognized territory.
Kuwaiti officials welcomed Baku’s proposal to host a summit of the Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC) in 2014. They also pledged support for Azerbaijan’s bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2013.
During Mammadyarov’s meeting with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday, the talks focused on energy issues and regional cooperation.
