BAKU – The foreign ministers of South Korea and Azerbaijan held talks in Seoul on Tuesday on ways to increase economic and cultural cooperation as well as on regional and international issues, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry said.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed the importance of intensifying mutual visits by both government representatives and scholars, culture figures and businessmen for comprehensive expansion of bilateral relations.

South Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan said economic relations between the two countries were developing rapidly, noting that South Korea was interested in their further expansion. He added that his country sees Azerbaijan as a priority partner for the period 2011-2013.

The parties also pointed to the importance of arranging exchange of experience between the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and South Korea’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security.

Minister Mammadyarov arrived in Seoul earlier Tuesday for a two-day visit that also includes meetings with Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik and National Assembly Speaker Park Hee-tae.
